About the role

As Mycronic is growing, the demands on Strategic Sourcing are increasing. Yearly spend in Sweden today amounts to approximately SEK 1,3 billion.

Mycronic is now looking for a strategic buyer for the purchasing department within the Pattern Generators Division. The focus area for the role will be on “Commercial Off The Shelf” COTS. As a strategic buyer at Mycronic, you are involved at an early stage in the planning process when purchasing components for both machines and equipment, in our production and for the development department that builds prototypes. You are responsible for executing and planning purchases both nationally and internationally.

The strategic buyer’s main tasks are to negotiate the best terms in terms of quality, delivery time and price. As a strategic buyer, you are expected to anchor and decide on purchasing strategies for different categories. You continuously work with supplier development so that the supplier meets Mycronic’s requirements for quality, delivery precision, lead time, etc. and in consultation with the supplier choose best manufacturing methods and minimize costs and time-to-market.

Main responsibilities

The Strategic buyer is responsible for a portfolio of categories. The areas are mainly different COTS (e.g. electrical, mechanical). In the portfolio of categories this role is responsible for the total spend.

The position reports to the Head of Strategic Sourcing & Inbound Logistics, Pattern Generators Division, in a team of 15 colleagues.

The main responsibilities summarized as follows:

• Relationship management with all key suppliers. Personally, be responsible for some suppliers and negotiate key deals.

• Execute agreed plans on cost reduction and consolidating supplier base.

• Monitor and report performance of suppliers and the purchasing function.

• Participate in product development projects and be responsible for that suppliers are selected and deliver to agreed plans.

• Develop and execute plans for supplier quality.

• Support the material planning function in driving supplier delivery lead time and delivery accuracy performance.

• Adopt Category management to maximize the value delivered from the supply base.

• Provide reports including the analysis of KPIs in purchasing.

Profile

To be successful in this position and secure continued growth and competitive development, we believe that you have the following experience and skill set:

• Relevant academic degree, preferably a BSc or MSc in Engineering.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience from Purchasing in an international manufacturing/electronics industry environment.

• Excellent purchaser, negotiator and strong analytical and presentation skills.

• Full understanding of the financial metrics as well as KPIs.

• Experienced project leader with analytical capacity.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Fluent in English and preferably also in Swedish (both oral and written).

It is also important you have strong planning and organizational skills with good attention to detail as well as strong execution skills and delivering results on time.
