We are now seeking an accomplished and driven M&A Director with Group Controlling responsibilities to join us and play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic growth and long-term value creation.

 

About the role

The M&A Director plays a pivotal role in driving value creation across the Group through active leadership and hands-on execution of Mergers & Acquisitions and potential divestments. The position supports Business Areas and Business Units in all financial aspects of M&A transactions, including negotiations, due diligence, valuation, business case development and post-merger integration. The person will also be commercially responsible for divesting idle real estate associated with site closures.

In addition, the M&A Director serves as a senior business controller and strategic financial partner to the Group CFO, delivering rigorous analysis and high-quality decision support to guide business performance, capital allocation and portfolio development. The position includes line management responsibility for one direct report.

The position is based at the Group headquarters in Trelleborg. The role has an international scope and requires travel estimated at approximately 20–40 days per year, depending on the level of transaction activity. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Lead and execute M&A transactions in close collaboration with Business Areas and Business Units
  • Actively participate in negotiations with buyers, sellers, advisors, and other stakeholders
  • Perform and coordinate comprehensive financial due diligence, including quality of earnings, net debt, and working capital analysis
  • Critically evaluate and challenge valuation models, business cases, and investment proposals
  • Prepare, support, and challenge decision materials for Group Management and Board approval
  • Support post-merger integration activities, including financial reporting alignment, internal controls, and synergy tracking
     

Divestments

  • Lead financial workstreams related to divestment processes to ensure structured and efficient execution
  • Conduct and manage negotiations with buyers, advisors, and relevant stakeholders
  • Assess financial implications, risk exposure, and value realization outcomes

Business Controlling & CFO Support

  • Act as a strategic financial advisor and business partner to the Group CFO
  • Deliver hands-on advanced financial analysis, scenario modelling, and data-driven decision support at Group level
  • Prepare high-quality materials for Group Management, Board meetings, and other key governance forums

     

About You

The successful candidate demonstrates strong financial and analytical capabilities, underpinned by a deep understanding of M&A processes and transaction execution. You bring proven negotiation expertise and the ability to manage senior stakeholders effectively across complex organizational environments.

You combine a strategic mindset with a pragmatic, hands-on approach, enabling you to operate independently and deliver results in demanding and ambiguous situations. A high level of integrity, precision and attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally. Advanced proficiency in English is required.

 

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline – Master’s degree or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant professional experience within controlling, M&A, corporate finance, or transaction services
  • Demonstrated hands-on M&A experience, including: Leading and participating in deal negotiations, Conducting and coordinating financial due diligence, Performing valuation analysis and developing robust business cases
  • Experience from a listed industrial company is considered a strong advantage
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and Group reporting principles
